The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the richest nations on earth in terms of natural resources — gold, coltan, cobalt, and countless others. Yet, this abundance has become a curse for its people. In the eastern provinces, foreign-backed armed groups like M23 continue to terrorize communities, displacing families and destabilizing the region.
At the US-CONGO Strategic Network, we shed light on the connections between external state support, illegal resource extraction, and the ongoing crisis in Eastern Congo. Our mission is to raise global awareness and ensure that the international community confronts the role of armed groups and the complicity of external actors. The people of Eastern Congo deserve a future rooted in peace, dignity, and accountability.
